One Friday night I needed my friends, a drink, ethnic food, great conversation, and an opportunity to visit the place where my friends Mika and Ken first met and fell madly in love. So according to the newlyweds, this is where it all began.... at Cha Cha Cha's!
Let's start with the food: SUPREME. On this night, we enjoyed the:
- Fried Calamari
- Grilled Chicken Wings
- Black Mussels (taste the soup... OMG! Its so f**kin good!)
- Fried Potatoes
- Fried Platanos Maduros
- Spanish Rice & Black Beans (delicious Vegan dish)
We (Mika, Ken, Caleb, Lara, and I) could not stop ranting about the Black Mussel dish and the sabaw (soup in Filipino). Just like home-style Filipino Sinigang (soup). This is a return visit dish for us. Next time, I'm going to order a serving bowl just for myself and a side of rice to complete it. I know some of my family will complain about the mussels being small (not like Filipino size where its about three inches big), but its well worth it.
Friday Night Crowd: It's packed - as in you gotta raise your voice to get your conversation across. It maybe the food or drinks, but this place was crowded and happening. After all this the Mission area on a Friday night. So its busy here. We got very lucky that our wait was less than 10 minutes. So no review star deduction here.
Service and Hospitality: Our server Bonnie was on point. She came through with every request; napkins, more mojitos, refill on the Boont Amber Ale, and offered desserts at the right time. We didn't feel rushed or ignored. So extra star here. Food arrived on time. I was concerned that our order will arrive late or cold, but since the kitchen was visible to the crowd, there's a glimpse of watching the chefs prepare each dish.
Overall, we did get a point to point story where the newlyweds met and exactly where they struck they're first conversation. Romantic, yet crazy because I couldn't imagine myself trying to meet my future wife here... unless she exclusively drew her attention to us. Right Mika? (Inside Joke).
